Cross-Canada tour begins Friday from Kelowna

ConnecTour is kicking off its cross-Canada tour on Friday, May 28th as planned. However, because British Columbia has extended its travel restrictions until June 15th or possibly later, the team has modified its Stage 1 schedule, and will be leaving from Kelowna rather than Victoria, as originally planned.

The team had traveled to B.C. in anticipation that travel restrictions would be lifted after the May holiday weekend, as the government initially indicated. When the B.C. government announced the travel restrictions extension on May 25th, it became obvious that Victoria departure was no longer possible.

Almost day-to-day changes in direction from government authorities have presented serious challenges to planning. However, B.C.’s announcement only changes Stage 1 of the cross-Canada tour.

The team will arrive in Calgary on June 19th – four days earlier than expected – and plans to spend several days there to get the tour back on schedule. Stages 2 through 5 will be on the dates originally scheduled (see the route page for a day-by-day breakdown).

ConnecTour has been or will be contacting participants to make travel adjustments. That who are not able to reschedule participation in Stage 1 will be given full refunds. ConnecTour will also be modifying accommodation and hosting dates for Stage 1, and confirming reservations for all other stages.

We will bring you updates as we progress. In meantime, please keep in mind that two of the core team are riding to raise awareness for the need for increased organ donations in Canada.
